Here at Headingley Chiropractic Clinic, we have noticed that a significant number of our patients appear to be men over 30 who have been living with back pain. This recent article I saw from the British Chiropractic Association is therefore of interest:
Most men start to battle back pain in their thirties; with the grand old age of 37 revealed as the average age when men feel the strain. Consumer research from the British Chiropractic Association found that 82% of men in the UK say they currently live with neck or back pain or have suffered in the past, compared to 75% a year ago. Nearly a quarter of the men who took part in this research experience pain every day; moving heavy objects being the top trigger for half of those men. However, 41% admit they don’t do anything to proactively look after their backs and 28% opt to self-treat with over the counter medication.
How can the 21st Century male get through the day free from back pain?
As we get older, it becomes even more important to look after our health. For our backs that means good posture, regular exercise, correct lifting technique and warming up before strenuous activity; whether that activity is golf, gardening, or a kick around with the kids.
At Headingley Chiropractic Clinic, we are offering a free check-up (including back strength tests) and a Health Care Class on Tuesday 8th September with the aim to help you achieve this.
