Well maybe not. If you only do breast stroke and in particular if you do not put your head under the water you may be doing more harm than good. The awkward kicking style of breast stroke strains your hips and consequently your lower back. By keeping your head above you are staining your neck. If possible, always do freestyle and/or backstroke. If you are struggling with the breathing technique in freestyle then try use a kickboard while you train yourself. As always, it is important to warm up before and stretch out afterwards.
